Gotonomi, Viasat, and Videosoft Global demonstrate cutting-edge UAV communications in live flight trial, announce joint showcase at BCN Drone Day
Gotonomi, Viasat, and Videosoft Global have successfully completed a collaborative UAV flight demonstration, showcasing the next generation of satellite-enabled communications and video streaming technology for uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs). The live trial highlighted how the three companies are enabling reliable Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations with assured connectivity, real-time video transmission, and unmatched safety standards.
A new standard for UAV connectivity and safety
The demonstration combined Gotonomi’s lightweight, ultra-low power satellite terminals, Viasat’s secure Velaris L-Band network, and Videosoft Global’s industrial-grade video streaming technology. Together, these solutions address one of the most critical challenges in the UAV sector: maintaining reliable command and control, and payload data links even in challenging environments.
Gotonomi showcased its market-leading low size, weight, power, and cost
(SWaP-C) terminals, delivering assured connectivity of up to 200 kbps for UAV platforms of all sizes. The terminal operates on Viasat’s Velaris satellite network, a BVLOS communications service which provides resilient, secure, global communications that enable UAVs to safely integrate into commercial airspace. Complementing these capabilities, Videosoft Global demonstrated its real-time video streaming software, embedded on a Gotonomi Multilink terminal and already proven in BVLOS operations worldwide, ensuring uninterrupted visual reliability even in low-bandwidth or variable connectivity scenarios. By maintaining a clear and consistent video feed, operators and command teams gain the situational awareness needed to monitor assets, respond quickly to changing conditions, and make confident decisions in demanding environments
“Ultra-low bandwidth, real-time video streaming is transforming what UAVs can achieve. Working alongside Viasat and Gotonomi, we’re showing how satcom-enabled resilient connectivity and visual reliability can transform UAV operations globally and unlock operational envelopes that were previously unattainable.”

Demonstrating Market-Disruptive Capabilities
The flight trial was conducted on a UAV test platform developed by Aero Solutions, designed to allow advanced technology providers to validate their products in real-world scenarios. With a focus on reducing SWaP-C, the partnership demonstrated that safe, scalable UAV communications can now be achieved at a fraction of the cost of legacy systems, making global adoption more accessible.
“This flight trial demonstrates the real-world potential of combining advanced satellite connectivity with video streaming innovation. By partnering with Viasat and Videosoft Global, we are demonstrating that satellite communications is not only possible but practical for UAVS of all sizes, and that operators can achieve both transmission of safety critical comms, require for BVLOS, and revenue-generating payload data in a miniaturized form factor in the Gotonomi terminals. Collaboration like this is vital to accelerating safe integration into airspace and unlocking new applications that depend on dependable communications.”
